Earlier this year, both the House and Senate overwhelmingly passed new whistleblower acts; we are awaiting reconciliation between the two.  Here is a link to the Project on Government Oversight’s sample letter encouraging our lawmakers to reconcile the differences.  Only then can it await signature at the White House.

Importantly, this bill can provide what is currently lacking — a venue for federal whistleblower cases to be heard in district court before a jury.  A decision can then be rendered at that level, and in front of impartial members of the community with no financial ties to the executive branch government.  Currently, there is a decision making monopoly held by the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB).  Even when cases are appealed to the Circuit Court, they are remanded and must ultimately be decided at MSPB.
